Stony Fork

Fork Hill

A small set of fractured cliffs and a nice free-standing boulder in a garden of mountain laurel. The boulders are of high quality bullet quartz sandstone. The problems are of moderate height, so bring some extra pads. A rope to brush holds wouldn’t be a bad idea.

The Beta

Hike past the gate along the old logging road. Follow it south for 20 minutes (1.0 mile) until you peak the first hill (a very gradual rise). When the trail flattens out, watch closely to the right for the obvious cut path in towards some waist high rock. There  may be some flagging tape.

Take this path, staying right of the rock. Continue up on top of the exposed bedrock and winding through the mountain laurel along rock ridges for 2 minutes (100 yards) you’ll come out on top of the crag. Everything is closely located from here.
