Bodine Mountain: Upper Fern

The beta

Upper Fern is a bouldering area at Bodine Mountain in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, near Trout Run. It has 11 problems from v3 to v8 across 3 boulders, with a 5-minute approach.

An extension of the Middle Fern complex. Easily access but hiking over the top of the formation. The rock quality isn’t as good as elsewhere on the mountain but these problems are worth a mention.

Approach directions as Middle Fern but, once to the Badger Cave continue on to the top of the plateau and head directly west to the other side of the formation for 4 minutes (250 yards). Once arriving to the backside emerge out to a cliff. Then hike down and right towards Master Shredder in 2 minutes (100 yards).
